These last few weeks have been taken up by organising the tax returns first and looking after my husband, who needed urgent surgery, this last week.
Eventhough I was a bit sore and tired I tremendously enjoyed being in my space again and looking for that special feeling to take control of me when I am fully into the creative zone.
Kwowing I did not have a lot of time I took the a reference photo that I had been going before the admin took a hold of me, and just started sketching.
There was no urgency this time, no other feeling than just letting it happen.
I used a watercolour paper which I had prepared some time ago with Graydon's special paper size. The base colour a lightish pinkish/brownish colour (now I know Graydon is going to have a fit.....
This is the sketch quick start with just 2 colours and a litle blending:

Then I went for the pastels and with hardly any blending other then with the sticks themselves I got to this point before I had to stop.
After I had taken the pictures I went back to quickly adjust the mouth.
Looking at the drawing through the studio glass doors (similar to looking through a mirror) I noticed that I need to lower the value of the right eye a fair bit. It jumps out now and should not be, being in shadow. Another section is the lower law area that is too high in value as well.
Also there is no back ground as yet so I have some work to do there as well.
But that will be stage 3 and probaly tomorrow. The light is not good enough to work in now, and I want to start again with really fresh eyes. Tomorrow it is.
